Rural Alternatives Research & Training Society (R.A.R.T.S.)

The Rural Alternatives Research & Training Society is a registered charitable non-profit society which RARTS owns, operates, maintains and entertains community at the Vallican Whole Community Centre. RARTS was founded in 1971 to own the land, build the building and contribute in myriad ways to the larger Slocan Valley community..

The Vallican Whole is located in the Slocan Valley – unceded Sinixt təmxʷulaʔxʷ (homeland). The Valley is a rural community of less than 6000 people – and rural life can have its challenges, along with its joys. The mission of RARTS is to support a healthy & creative rural community, through education, cultural & artistic events, and a centre for the enrichment of rural living.

We are supported through rental income from the Vallican Whole, as well as through grants from local & regional organizations. More than anything else, RARTS is supported through the energy & volunteerism of the community.

New members are always welcome! See below to download our membership form. If you would like to volunteer for RARTS events and/or organizing committees, please Contact Us.
