Up Close and Intimate Performance Series
January 25, 2025 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Four Performances this Winter and Spring at the Vallican Whole, featuring local musicians and theatre artists:
On Saturday January 25th, Lucas Myers returns with his lovable rural opinionator, Randy from Creston! Randy will be addressing the divisiveness or our current social situation and sharing his own very particular version of “radical redneck wellfullness”, a process which will include many tangents, a few tunes, and maybe a guest appearance. Oh and laughs. Lots of laughs. Buckle up, buttercup!
Doors at 7:00PM, Show at 7:30. Tickets are $25
February 14th is Valentines Day, the perfect night to host a fun and romantic Big Band Dance at the Whole. The Playmor Jazz Ensemble, a 19-piece jazz band featuring all kinds of local talent, will put on a fantastic night of very danceable jazz and swing.
Doors at 7:00PM.
Tickets are $30 for this special Valentines Evening. We’ll make it romantic!
On March 2nd, the very local clowns at Material Theatre offer a family-friendly matinee of their Fringe show Buttons and Pockets – a silly and spectacular romp through space, time, and the fabric of the universe. This show is fun for ages 4 – 104, and you’ll learn something about astrophysics, or at least a cheesy astronaut joke or two. Just watch out for black holes!
Adults are $15, Children 12 and under are $5 each.
Finally, the gorgeous harmonies and stomp-clap of Oh Pray Tell will grace the stage on Thursday April 10th. This story-telling, music-making trio featuring Sally Titasey, Beth Stupple, and Up Close favourite Shayna Jones are hard at work weaving new magic for a Kootenay tour this spring, and the Vallican Whole is delighted to feature their voices on the Up Close Stage this year.
Tickets are $25.
Tickets will be on sale starting in December at Rambling Rose Boutique in Winlaw, and online at www.vallicanwhole.com.
The Whole will also need a few volunteers for each event, who get in for free – contact [email protected] to sign up for a volunteer shift. Proceeds from the series go to paying artists, with any additional profit supporting other Vallican Whole events and programming.
