SUMMARY:The Columbia Basin Culture Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Vallican Whole Gallery and Sculpture Walk will be full of life and art for the 2026 Columbia Basin Culture Tour\, an annual self-guided tour of art studios and venues that showcases the region’s culture and creativity. \n\n\n\nVisitors to the Whole will enjoy a walk through the beautiful sculpture park\, where more than 16 sculptures share the land with a mature cedar forest. DESCRIPTION:Calling in the Magic to the Forest of Imagination\n\n\n\nA Free Community Art Day at the Vallican Sculpture Park \n\n\n\n10 am Opening – Monica Carpendale to welcome and introduce the artists/facilitators Veronica Verkley\, Thomas Loh\, Will Parker\, Pamela Park\, and Carl Schlichting. Workshops and community art making will be active throughout the day. \n\n\n\nEvent Schedule \n\n\n\n10:30  Thomas Loh – slide presentation on Earth ART – inspiring and engaging community in earth art making \n\n\n\n11:00  Will Parker & Pamela Park – “Emerging creatures and making nests” – a workshop creating creatures in the park with natural and recycled materials. \n\n\n\n12:00 Barbeque / smokies (veg and meat) by donation \n\n\n\n1:00  Veronica Verkley – “Soft Gaze” Veronica will be putting the finishing touches on installing an ephemeral work in the Sculpture Garden using local found materials and responding to the spirit of the woods. \n\n\n\nCommunity earth art making. \n\n\n\n2:00  Carl Schlichting will be creating a new artwork in the park with community art making participation with recycled and found objects. \n\n\n\n3:00  Parade and tour through the park to visit new creations. \n\n\n\n3:45  Closing comments \n\n\n\nSupported by the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance.
